Small Red Oak Plane

270.00

A small smoothing plane made of red oak with a hard-wearing machiche sole and a pin made of goncalo alves. At 7 1/4” long, this small plane can be used two-handed for smoothing and polishing panels and straightening edges. It can also be pushed or pulled one-handed for chamfering and easing edges. Like the other planes I make, the ramp angle is 45° so that it’s right at home smoothing face, edge and end grain. It fits beautifully in the hand. I use a similar sized wooden plane for smoothing and final planing many of the projects I make like small cabinets, jewelry boxes, drawer parts and other medium to small size pieces.

All planes feature Hock high carbon tool steel blades with breaker and assembly screw. At 3/16" thick, Hock blades sharpen easily, hold a superior edge and won't chatter during use. These blades are designed specifically for wooden Krenov-style planes. The plane measures 7 1/4”l x 2 1/8”w x 1 7/8”h and comes carefully prepared with a sharpened blade.
