The Art of Marquetry Workshop

Marquetry is a technique where different colors of wood veneers are carefully cut to fit precisely together creating a design in wood. This workshop will focus on the double-bevel method of marquetry, a highly accurate technique that eliminates gaps around the individual pieces of the marquetry picture. Each participant will complete projects using various sawing techniques and materials. We will begin with the artwork, work through the marquetry process and apply a finish to the completed design. Also discussed will be applications for marquetry as well as vacuum press and veneer press techniques. Prior woodworking experience is helpful, but not necessary.
